Saving your files can always be a pain. Sometimes there are even moments when you loose them completely. This is very common with video footage. You do not want that to happen.

So, what do you do?

You back up your footage of course.

But how do you do that?

Let me share with you 3 quick STEPS to back up your footage:

STEP NUMBER 1: SAVE 2 COPIES OF YOUR FOOTAGE AND PROJECT ON THE COMPUTER.

I always do this because you are never sure whether you have the original copy or not. You do not want to start completely over from scratch especially if you have done tons of work.

STEP NUMBER 2: SAVE YOUR FOOTAGE AND PROJECT ON A HARD DRIVE

This is another important step. Always save your footage and project on hard drives as a backup when not working on the footage or project This way if something goes wrong also have the computer version and the hard drive version.

STEP NUMBER 3: SAVE YOUR PROJECT TO A CLOUD BASED SERVICE

This is a tricky one but also the easiest step because with this step if you want to work on your project away from the office or home you do not have to lug your drives or laptop around. You can log in and your project will be right there. However, you have to be very careful with this one and watch out for hacking or internet shutdown. The other two steps reassures you that you can access your project and footage without internet access.
